Unlock Your Story
Empowering seniors to write, illustrate, and publish their own Ebook.
See how one author made her first ebook. She used AI to make the images and structure the story.
First of all
Overcome Your Fear
Take that book idea you've had in your mind for years, identify your genre (fiction, romance, personal memoirs), and just start to write. Write whatever comes into your mind, don't worry about grammar right now.
Andy uses a regular word processor (Microsoft Word). I recommend getting to know Word, learn how to format your book, etc. It's good to know how to set up your document for ebooks from the start.
Not to mention
Unleash Your Creativity
Learn how to unleash your creativity and express your unique stories in a digital format. Overcome your fear of technology and embark on a journey of self-discovery. Let the ideas fly, no censorship, just get it on paper (or in your word processor.)
I sometimes pretend I'm telling a story out loud. I stand in front of a mirror and just start talking. It helps to clarify what's important and what's silly. And now, I use free artificial intelligence programs to help with story structure and images.
And let's not forget
Share Your Stories
As you create, use the experiences of other fledgling writers to give you ideas, support, and inspiration. Check out the resources in your public library. You might find they host a writer's club or book club. One of the best ways to become a better writer is to read, read, read.
About Andy
Andy Lapey is a happily retired Library Media Specialist, teacher, grant writer, and jack of all trades. After a trip to Ecuador, she wanted to write a story about a little girl in the rainforest. She put it off for 20 years. One day she learned about using Artificial Intelligence to write stories and make images to illustrate. Using Bing AI she was finally able to get over her inertia and write the story. It's good to finish things you start.
